Accessibility During Recruitment
-
Disability Confident
We are a disability confident employer. This means we are passionate about providing inclusive and accessible recruitment and guarantee an interview to candidates who declare a disability during application that meet the minimum essential criteria.
-
Armed Forces Covenant
To support employment of veterans, we recognise military skills and qualifications in our recruitment and selection processes and guarantee an interview to any Armed Forces veteran and/or active service spouse/partner that meets the minimum essential criteria for a role. We also work with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to support the employment of Service leavers and the Forces Families Forum to support the employment of Service spouses and partners.
-
Tenant Accessibility
We want to support our tenants in their careers, and recognize the skills that they have, so we guarantee an interview to tenants that meet the minimum essential criteria, and declare that they are tenants during their application.

Reasonable Adjustments
Examples of reasonable adjustments for interviews are:
- Availability to hold interviews remotely
- Increased time for interviews or assessments
- Ensuring that you have access to a ground floor interview rooms
- Ensuring that you are able to take regular breaks during the interview
- Providing Interview Questions ahead of your interview to help you prepare (Nb. if one candidate asks for this, all candidates interviewed will be sent the same).
(this list is not exhaustive, if there are adjustments that would support you that are not listed above, please contact us to discuss)

Role Shadowing
To support active personnel to determine their career pathway post-service, wherever possible we offer shadowing across both professional services, operational and/or trade-based roles. To support this, individuals can meet with a member of Flagship’s internal Armed Forces Network, to discuss personal experience and/or gain insight into different roles across the Group, before, during or after requesting a shadowing opportunity.
Recruitment and Onboarding
We recognise that there are differences between the expectations, roles, responsibilities and associated language used in the armed forces compared to non-armed forces organisations. If an applicant is either a veteran or currently in active service, they can access the following dedicated support during their recruitment, selection and onboarding process:
- An informal phone call with a member of our HR team and/or internal Armed Forces Network to discuss the role and what it’s like to work at Flagship
- Any interview panel can include a member of our internal Armed Forces Network
- A meeting with a member of our internal Armed Forces Network, ahead of any interview, to raise any queries around the proposed interview questions and/or the process
- A buddy from our internal Armed Forces Network, for at least the first 6 months of employment
- A ‘Chair Check-In’ after the first nine months of employment, with the Chair of our Armed Forces Network, to share feedback on the recruitment and onboarding process, Flagship’s employee experience when joining as a veteran, and any suggestions for improvement
